Hi everybody.
Mack is now 12 months old, and for those who don't remember .. he is huge. He now weighs 80 kilos. He is still an intact male and we were hoping to keep him that way for another few of months, just to let him fully mature.
He shows zero aggression towards any other dog, he does not attempt to hump other dogs, BUT he is marking a lot. Which is sort of alright when we're out and about in the bush, but not so alright when we re in public areas (e.g. beach) and he has now developed the bad habit of peeing onto our undercover outside area, which the dogs have access to when we're out. The problem actually started with him pooping there when it is rainy, because he doesn't wanna get his footsies wet. It is an unfortunate setup, with the undercover area being level with the backyard and having concrete as a ground.. he doesn't recognize it as part of the house, rather as part of the backyard.
Anyway, he has now started peeing there as well, preferably up against the wrapped up pool table. We are moving into our own home soon, and have to store it there for the time being.. Yesterday he peed on a chair out there and with his height, he covered the whole chair.. and well.. he weighs 80 kilo, he pees a lot.
I am not sure whether he marks or just pees there.
Like I mentioned, we are moving into our own home soon, where they will have a separate fenced of section for when we are out, so the pooping issue should be solved, but the peeing/marking on everything issue bothers me, so we are wondering whether we should get him neutered now. As in get an appointment asap? We've never had a male dog before, will neutering him fix the issue? Is the whole marking thing something that you can leave til too late when you don't neuter the dog early enough?
I would be grateful for any advice.. meanwhile I take the pooches for another quick walk, to make sure Mack doesn't need to go at home ;-)
