Early morning and late evening walks -- fortunately for us we have a conservation area trail a block from home. We follow the river and try to stay under the trees.
During the day, they have access to go out for short periods of play in the yard -- again with good tree coverage and lots of water available. In  between, they are inside on the couch in the air conditioned living room.

It's a bita crazier when we are camping. We up the length of the walks into true hikes and try to get them into the water because we don't have the cool of the AC there.

My backdoor is usually open onto the deck and the gate into the orchard is always left open.  You would think that they would take themselves out there from time to time because that's where the squirrels are and where they have caught groundhogs in the past.  However, most of the time they are curled up in the a.c. and only if I go out and actually force them to follow me off the deck will they go with me and then only for a short time.  I've cut back on their food, but they are carrying more weight than I would like.  90 plus degrees with high humidity is not conducive to anything other than lounging by the swimming pool and we don't have a pool - yet!  Thinking about it though.  I do walk Cat up the drive (1/4 mile) to get the mail but she drags her feet most of the way, and we are both only too happy to get back into the a.c.

I take Kumba to the offleash park where he jumps in and out the water, charges around like a hooligan with the other dogs and then it is back in the water.  then later in the evening we go for a walkabout.  In South Africa we also had access to a river and park and used it extensively when it got quite hot (it was about a three minute walk for us to get there) and the rhodesians loved it as did my staffy.
