We are all as new as our newest
« on: February 20, 2010, 08:23 AM »
Everyone is new at some point. Even those who've had RRs all their life go back to the learning curve when a new dog enters their lives. Some are puppies, other's are rescues with unknown history. The collective wisdom of this board is amazing. The questions of the total newbies often brings a smile as I remember "learning" first hand what I'd read a number of times or been warned by my first breeder.
RRs are smart. They are pack dogs, yet people dogs. They eat. They countersurf to eat even more. They play rough..... But when you see it for the first time you wonder if yours is normal or how you will survive the issues that arise.
This board should be a safe place to ask questions, to share the experiences and to grow with your new RR. It hopefully will always be a place where the experienced owners (most way more experienced than moi) will help those newer to make good decisions for themselves and their dogs.

The way I see it, the breed as a whole depends on it. We are all ambassadors for all RRs. Good stewardship of the breed ensures that we are all welcome everywhere with our pups. I've been asked to serve as board steward here. I welcome your help.

Excellent post! I love your thoughts and philosophy on what the board is intended to provide both our new owners as well as those who are more well versed in Ridgeback ownership.

Thanks Carol Ann!
