He's got one of the biggest heads I think I've ever seen on a RR, who is he?

i don't think that he has a " too big head" as it is a firmly built dog/strong and muscular dog, its bloodline comes from the USA/RSA/GB ( many years ago...) ;  8)
weight=40 kg
size=66/67 cm

I love the tugging rope pics.

Denver does have a much stronger head than his brother and sister.

I believe heads are often larger in Europe than in the US.  I was having this conversation with an RR judge just this week and she was remarking that heads have gotten too small and pointy in the US and we need a bit more size and strength of muzzle.  If you look at the South African Rescue calendar, the photographs of many of the dogs there have heads that are a lot larger than we are used to seeing.  Kelley, do you remember the big brown nosed dog, Merlin, that Concettta Jez showed so successfully several years back?  He had a big head.  We in the US tend to go for elegance rather than strength and I am not sure that this isn't a mistake as it seems to be leading us toward the whippety type and away from the original type.

Great looking dogs!

Leonidas is my first RR, so I tended to base things on him at first.  He has a huge head.  We call him melon head.  and when I went to nationals last year, I remember thinking, "wow, these dogs all have small heads.."  at least compared to him!

Yup, Merlin's related to both of my boys. I think the Liver coloration makes the head look alot larger than it would with a blacknosed dog as well. There are some lines that still like a substantial dog here in the US, but I agree that we do see a heck of alot of thinner boned dogs here than over seas (overall).

I love seeing Denver and Douna side by side! Another Liver set of sibling's I'd love to see side by side is Meile and her liver brother. Two more great looking livers!
