PHOTOS - upcoming changes

We have posted in several areas on this forum about the size of photos allowed.
Please remember that even though your photos are on a photo site the size does effect the forum.  Some photos require up/down/side2side arrows to view.  Additionally, you may have a larger screen/monitor or high speed download, but others who use this forum may not.  This is one reason we have stressed the importance of loading a specific size file to the gallery and other areas of this forum. 

As we update the various areas of the forum we may remove some of your photos.  If you have photos loaded that are not sized correctly please take this moment to resize and let us know when you are ready to modify the locations.

I always try to size mine appropriatly, but what is the actual  size you recommend?  There are detailed instructions on using photobucket, but I can't find a recommended size.

For example I usually size mine to 6x8 or 576x423 pixels at 72 dpi, is that too big?

I have a preset of 640x640 for photos I'm going to be posting on forums.  I use 400x400 for Rbackpix (yahoo group) which makes them come in under 150k usually.  Assuming that most people have at least 800 pixel wide monitors (don't scream, I said MOSt people! ), 640 width seems to work well.  This seems to give me anywhere between 50k and 120k (if you are concerned about bandwidth).  72dpi seems standard.

If I post something here as a link from flickr, I choose medium or small sizes.

I went to photobucket to resize them, I clicked select all and deleted them in error so now all you get where I posted photos is image been removed.  Sorry about that.

I use dot-mac for most of my photos... Apple is going to a new service called "mobile me", and I haven't figured out if they will still web host.  If they don't I'm screwed;  what it means here is that all my posted photos might disappear sometime in July.

PLEASE NOTE - The Photo Gallery is open for revision/deletion of your photos
Please remember, if you want to post a group of new photos we are asking that you link them to one of the photo sites that other members are currently using. 
 

This should eventually help everyone, those with smaller monitors, dialup connections, etc.  Photos are nice to share, but Photo Albums and Slideshows need to be housed on another site.
