Reminder about Photo Attachements
« on: April 19, 2006, 08:04 PM »
I love all the photos and am very excited about the collection of different photos we are compiling in one place, but I just want to remind everyone that the best way to share photos on this site is to post them to a service like  www.photobucket.com and then link to the photo.  Photobucket does all the work, all you have to do is browse to the photo, click upload. Photobucket generates the image tag automatically so you can cut and paste it.

Using Photobucket or another similar service will allow you to put the photo anywhere in your post instead of just at the bottom, and it will ensure that we will not have to delete your photo in the future.  There may come a time where we have to limit the length of time before deleting attachments so that the forum doesn't run out of space!  (Right now there are no plans to delete any photos, it just depends how much we grow!).

ANOTHER Reminder about Photo Attachements
« Reply #1 on: June 20, 2006, 01:39 PM »
PHOTOS - WARNING!
Our forum is unique in that we allow photographs.  We all love to see dogs and their families.  We also have Boards where we use photos for examples; as in the Conformation and Structure topics.  We are tossing around the possibility of a topic board where photos will be part of the requirement to post on that topic.

Photos take up huge space called Bandwidth. Bandwidth costs money...lots of it.  It is one reason that some dog lists don't allow photos...only messages.  Avatars take up a smaller amount of space because the photo is sized and compressed to fit each member's post.

In the Members Section you will see FAQ’s and Board Announcements under that heading is a FAQ called “How do I put a picture in my post?”
I am asking all members who have photos (not Avatar’s) posted any where on this forum, please take a moment to read and familiarize yourself with the two ways that we have asked all members who submit photos to the RR-Forum use.

Rather than lose the ability to post information and ideas or force us to remove photos completely, we are asking that everyone check the method they used to post their photos, and if need be to modify the size or the method in which they posted to our site.

For all our members who will be posting a photo for the first time - 60 kb or less is what should be posted.  All directions for the photo process is on the  FAQ’s & Board Announcements  See Above.

As Micah has posted before, “Keep in mind that there are online instructions for the forum available by clicking on Help at the top left of your screen!”

Do you fan the flames, try to douse them, flee from the heat, watch as the house burns, or use the
cell-phone camera to privately send it to others?

Here is the current link to Photobucket HOW TO GUIDE
Please note you must upload your photo to PHOTOBUCKET to use this software.

http://photobucket.com/faq?catID=29

How do I post a picture on a forum?

Find the image to which you want to link.
Locate the IMG code below the thumbnail image.
Note: The checkbox may only display if you move your mouse over the media. See How do I control the linking codes that display in my album for details.
Click in the IMG code field. If one-click copy is active, the yellow "Copied" box displays when you click. If the yellow "Copied" box does not display, manually copy the code.
Paste the code into your forum posting.
If the image does not display immediately, clear your browser's cache, and refresh your page. If you continue to experience difficulties, contact us, and send us a link to the forum board and a link to the image that is causing difficulties.

See the Linking Basics and Generating HTML & IMG Code tutorials for more information.

We ask that when you post you limit the photos to 4 of the VERY best.
Yes, we know All your dogs photos ARE the Very Best, after all they ARE Ridgebacks!
